Editing

Use of Time Stretch Tool 135%
When including the Paramount titles we did not want this to last overly long because of the fact that our piece is a teaser trailer. Instead of cutting this we sped it up using the Time Stretch tool, shown in the screen shot above. We chose 135% as the setting so that the logo wasn't moving so fast it was very noticeable, but quick enough to make this institution screen shorter.
Dip to black
The dip to black transistion is something we have used frequently in our teaser trailer, as we saw how this works affectively in blending each scene together. An example of where this is used is between the Preview Screen and the Paramount institution screen.

The Devil Inside footage
We chose to include miliseconds of footage from other films. For example, this shot which is so quick it is not seen clearly displays a person who seems possessed. This links to our film as the whole idea is that the use of a ouija board brings out demon like characters.

Time Stretch
Again we are using the Time Stretch tool for another scene. This writing out of the ouija board scene has been sped up and cut in with other shots so that it does not drag on for too long, creating a long shot which isn't something typically seen in a horror films teaser trailer.

Dip to white tool
Another editing transistion between shots that we have used is the Dip To White tool, similar to the Dip To Black. We have used this because the use of white flashes in horror film trailers is very common, for example in the trailer Below this idea is commonly used. This is something we thought was affective in giving a disorientated affect for the audience which is a feeling we wanted to create through our whole trailer.

Still image
We included still images of a person with blacked out eyes. These images are cut in with shots of the ouija board to display how the use of the ouija board causes these demonic characters to come out. These images are so quick that they are flashes, so that the audience will become curious as to what is being seen.

The Last Exorcism
We used two short shots from The Last Exorcism which similarly to the affect of The Devil Inside footage in which it gives a disorientated feel to the teaser trailer, making the audience unsure exactly as to what the ending or outcome of our actual film will be, which is something we wanted to convey as then the teaser trailer will cause audiences to become interested.

Orator Std
For both of our teaser trailers titles at the end of our teaser, we decided against the font and affect in which we tested previously. We instead decided on the font Orator Std in a white colour. The white colour was chosen because it gives a supernatural look to the titles, white representing a ghost. We chose Orator Std as the font because we saw how the letters were quite sharp, and not rounded (like the font Comic Sans) which gives a more unfriendly and horror type of look, rather than a friendly looking rounded font.
In the titles we wanted to be very straight to the point as this is only a teaser. 'Coming Soon 2013' shows clearly this is a teaser because it does not give an exact date to the audience, which is a common convention of teaser trailers.
